Galaxian

The year was 1979. Candy bars and a row of quarters lined the black edge of the Galaxian machine at 7-11, which sat between Pacman and Asteroids. Marsha, Lori, and I would go to "Sev" in our pajamas on Saturday mornings just for Galaxian, cherry Slurpies and Snickers. The Chinese owner would yell after us, "you three, again?!"

Not that I'm looking, but I'd be more likely to find gold than stumble on a Galaxian machine, today. Although I have seen its successor, Galaga, in an out of the way arcade, once or twice through the years. They don't even have arcade games in 7-11 anymore. Any games. I have the feeling that if I went to some place like Ukraine, I'd find Galaxian.

Yum... Galaxian, beetroot borscht, and pickled herring.
